We are just one month out from WTT Star Contender Bangkok 2023 kicking off and a press conference was staged today at the Grand Fourwings Convention Hotel to mark the occasion.
When action gets underway it's set to be a milestone making moment. The Land of Smiles will be hosting its maiden WTT Series event as well as the first ever WTT Star Contender to be held in the Southeast Asia region.

A warm smile and and commitment to putting on a first-class show is at the forefront of the organiser's minds. Nattavuth Ruengves, President of the Table Tennis Association of Thailand, expressed his delight in hosting the global event.

Suthasini Sawettabut was also in attendance today to help mark the one month countdown.
Sawettabut is back home from her recent round of 16 run at Singapore Smash. With the successful staging of the Smash, the story in Southeast Asia will get another chapter as Bangkok will take centre stage and continue to put the spotlight on table tennis in the region. Fans will not want to miss out on the chance to see Sawettabut and a full host of the globe's biggest stars after WTT Series titles when the event lands in Bangkok.

With the calendar headed to Thailand, WTT is also excited for the chance to continue its re-imagination of table tennis in brand-new markets.

Preparations are well on track and Sanon Wangsrangboon, the Deputy Governor of Bangkok, expressed his confidence in the city's ability to host an event of this level for the first time.
“It is certain that Bangkok is ready in all aspects to host the WTT Star Contender Bangkok. We believe that Bangkok’s infrastructure has the ability to facilitate and create a good impression to our participants from all around the world.” Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok
